Learn the basics of the fastest human-powered sport on ice in this 2 hour introductory course. As host of the Olympic Long Track Speed Skating events in Vancouver 2010, the Richmond Olympic Oval in partnership with the Richmond Rockets will provide you with the coaching and resources to give you the ultimate speed skating experience.

Participants will gain on and off-ice knowledge and skill of the sport. Session is coached by veteran world cup national team speed skater, Nicole Garrido. Speed Skates and helmets will be provided. On-ice portion is fully padded. Participants must have prior skating experience. Skaters must be able to stand and glide on ice unassisted.

Saturday August 11

11am – 12pm – technical off-ice instruction
12pm – 1pm – on-ice skating instruction
