Christine has been a member of the Canadian Women’s Weightlifting Team since 2001, when she burst onto the competitive scene at the age of 16. Over the years she represented Canada at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, 2006 University World Championship, 20007 Pan American Games, 2007 World Weightlifting Championship and 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Christine built on these accomplishments by winning a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. At the 2012 London Summer Olympics, she realized a lifelong dream when she won a bronze medal – making her the first Canadian woman to win an Olympic medal in weightlifting. She is currently the Canadian record holder for all disciplines for the 63 kg category.
Since returning to BC after the 2012 Olympics, Christine has increased her coaching efforts, capitalizing in the renewed interest in the sport. She is NCCP Level 2 certified, coaches and started her own weightlifting club, Kilophile.
