September 12, 2021 Update:
Who does the Proof of Vaccination Apply to?
By order of the PHO, some events, services and businesses are required to check a person’s proof of vaccination for access to their venue or space. The provincial health order does not apply to employees or contractors.
The Richmond Olympic Oval continues to strongly encourage and promote the benefits of being fully vaccinated to its employees. In addition to a mandatory mask requirement, while working on shift, the Oval implements additional safety measures no longer required by provincial orders.
The Oval has continued to be a leader in ensuring a safe environment for guests and employees. As we move into the next phase of the pandemic recovery, we will remain committed to utilizing the resources we have available to us in promoting the benefits of vaccination.
For any additional information regarding this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact our Oval Experiences Team representatives:

- Gerry De Cicco: 604-346-5866.
September 10 —By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), proof of vaccination will be required to access select programs and services offered at the Oval. Beginning Monday, September 13 you must have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and by October 24 you must be fully vaccinated. Your patience and kindness are appreciated as we work to implement the new requirements of the Provincial Health Office.
We recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to your booking start time beginning Monday. Please ensure that you have the following pieces of ID:
- Proof of vaccine card. To obtain your proof of immunization, please visit gov.bc.ca/vaccinecard.
- Government-issued ID for those 18 years or older.
- Your Oval membership card. If you do not have a card or need it replaced, please visit the reception desk.
The requirement applies to all people born in 2009 or earlier (12+).
Members who are unable to provide proof of vaccination status have the following options:
- Use their membership hold entitlement.
- Request a medical hold provided a doctor’s note is submitted.
- Transfer to a Virtual Membership in the interim.
- Cancel their membership and rejoin at a later time when the order is no longer in effect.
The Oval continues to provide a safe environment for sport and fitness activities. On September 13 we are returning group classes into studio in alignment with the PHO Proof of Vaccination requirement. Classes will be delivered with capacities far below pre-pandemic levels with participants being purposefully spaced for distancing and comfort. The Oval is equipped with a MERV-14 air filtration system that operates at a level common in hospitals. Our Operations team has made sure that our air filtration is running optimally in all studio spaces.
Staff will continue to be onsite to offer assistance to our customers.
