Climb Your Way Through Summer with Beta Bash

Two Months. Two Disciplines. One Beta Bash

We’re kicking off a brand-new challenge series this summer: Beta Bash. A two-part climbing challenge designed to keep Oval members (and drop-in climbers) motivated and moving through July and August.

While it’s not our first climbing-specific challenge at OvalClimb, Beta Bash is a new format we’re excited to launch — open to all skill levels, self-paced, and focused on tracking progress over time. Whether you’re building confidence on the wall or dialing in your beta, this is a great way to stay engaged and try something new this summer.

Beta Bash (July 4th – July 31st)

The first part of the challenge focuses on bouldering. Starting July 4th, you’ll have access to 30 problems, with a second batch of 30 new problems added on July 15 — for a total of 60 routes to attempt over the month.

How it works:

1) Scoring

  • 50 points for reaching the zone (midway hold)
  • 100 additional points for reaching the top
  • Up to 150 points per problem

2) Tracking Progress

  • Each participant will receive a personal scorecard
  • All completed tops must be witnessed and signed off by another climber
  • Your scorecard is used to track your total points throughout the challenge

3) When to Climb

  • The challenge runs from July 4th to July 31st
  • You can climb anytime during regular climbing hours
  • 30 boulder problems will be set on July 4th
  • A second set of 30 problems will be switched in on July 15th

The climbers with the highest scores by July 31st will be recognized, and all participants who submit a score card will be eligible for a prize draw at the end of the month 👀👀

Who Can Join?

Beta Bash is open to all Oval members, and drop-in participants who love to climb are welcome to take part too. The format is designed to be accessible to climbers of all experience levels — from those tackling their first problems to more seasoned climbers looking for a focused challenge. This is a chance to try new routes, build consistency, and stay connected with the climbing community in a relaxed, self-paced way.

To sign up or ask questions, just visit the climbing desk on July 4th and chat with our OvalClimb team. We’ll get you set up with a scorecard and ready to go.
