Beginning August 1, 2024, visitors can receive free admission to the Olympic Experience at Richmond Olympic Oval on the first Thursday of every month from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available each Community Thursday and can be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis at the Oval front desk. Admission to the Olympic Experience will also be free on Canada Day.
The Olympic Experience provides a highly interactive journey through Canada’s sport history through sport simulators, physical challenges and informative displays. New exhibits include the 180-degree immersive surf simulator that takes participants through the waves in Tofino or Costa Rica.
Providing free admission on the first Thursday of each month is an initiative in a series aimed at providing additional opportunities for the community to visit and participate in activities here at the Oval. The Richmond Olympic Oval has realized a significant increase in visitation in the past few years, especially in peak periods. Even with the significant uptake from the paying public, providing low or no-cost options for the Richmond community remains a strategic initiative for 2024. Over the coming weeks, the Richmond Olympic Oval will announce additional community engagement initiatives.
The Olympic Experience is open Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In 2023, it welcomed more than 25,000 visitors, including 3,000 students from 77 schools across Metro Vancouver, to provide customized educational experiences integrating physical activities with learning about the history of sport in Canada.
