Success For A Young Coach Starts Here! This specialized camp is a combination of awesome sports and fitness activities with sessions focused on leadership development. Participants will develop leadership skills in action through team–building games and workshop sessions. This camp will introduce the Canadian Sport for Life model and explain how the goal of Oval camps is to build fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, running, jumping, balance, and coordination while instilling the confidence and passion to play sport for life. Participants will have the opportunity to set up sport activities for each other and other camps to practice for future coaching. For all youths aged 12-15 years, this camp will run from 9am-4pm with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities.
Beach Fun All Summer Long! This exciting camp will include beach sports like volleyball, soccer, spikeball and beach tennis. Your child will develop fundamental movement skills, such as striking and jumping, in a fun, inclusive environment. This camp will be available in half–day formats and take place outdoors, so please bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat.
A Blast In The Sand This Summer! This camp will introduce your tot to fundamental movement skill building through beach activities and sports like soccer, sandcastles, and volleyball. Children will learn and play in a fun, inclusive environment on the Oval’s beach volleyball courts. This camp will take place outdoors, so please bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat. All tot camps are 3 hours in length.
The Ultimate Multi-Sport Experience! Your camper will take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor Oval activities, sports, and games. This sport camp is based on Canadian Sport for Life.The goal of Oval camps is to build fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, running, jumping, balance and coordination while instilling the confidence and passion to play sport for life. Available every week in full and half–day formats for children aged 6-10 years.
Where Every Girl Shines! This camp is designed specifically to meet the needs of girls. Activities will focus on sports and physical activities that are traditionally female-oriented and include activities such as volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics, dance and yoga, with two skating lessons taking place throughout the week. Your daughter will develop fundamental movement skills such as running, throwing, catching and balance while building the confidence to play sports for life. This camp will run from 9am-4pm with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities.
Swing, Strike, And Score! Participants will learn the proper movements associated with badminton, table tennis, progressive tennis and golf – all sports that utilize hand-eye coordination and striking skills. Your camper will be introduced to the rules of the games and learn various grips, shots, basic footwork, and body positioning while developing fundamental movement skills like striking and serving. This camp will be available for 6-9 year olds in half–day formats with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities.
Experience The Power Of The Olympic Spirit! The Richmond Olympic Experience is a highly interactive and dynamic museum with digital media, hands-on virtual sport simulations, physical challenges, informative displays and artefact exhibits. Our Olympic Experience camps are a great opportunity to introduce children to the excitement of the Olympic Games. Your Oval camper will learn Olympic values such as participation and teamwork in our Olympic–themed crafts and activities, including the Team Canada Uniform Design Challenge and our Museum Olympics Finals. This camp will be available for all ages in half day formats with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities.
The Supreme Sports Extravaganza! This multi-sport camp will introduce young participants to sport through fun activities and games. The focus will be on developing fundamental movement skills like throwing, running, jumping, catching, balance and coordination. Traditional sports such as basketball, soccer and baseball will be modified to match the development level of participants. All tot camps are 3 hours in length.
Swim! Bike! Run! The sport of triathlon is a racing event which tests athletes in three different disciplines: swimming, biking and running. In this introductory camp, participants will learn the basics of each part of the race through fun games. Aspects of the sport such as transitioning between activities and supporting other racers, will be emphasized alongside fundamental movement skills. The week will wrap up with a mini-event! Participants must feel comfortable swimming in deep water and be experienced riders, comfortable riding long distances, including trail riding. All participants must provide their own 2-wheel fully operational bike and CSA–approved bike helmet. For campers aged 9-12 years, this camp will run from 9am-4pm with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities.
Bouncing, Somersaults, Cartwheels, And More! This camp will introduce body awareness and physical movement basics with our tumble equipment. Through game play, your tot will develop fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, rolling, coordination and balance skills. All tot camps are 3 hours in length.
