Richmond Welcomes the Molson CARHA Hockey World Cup presented by Lulu Island Winery!

All the fun takes place March 19 to 25!

Attention hockey fans! The Molson CARHA Hockey World Cup presented by Lulu Island Winery is coming to Richmond this March, and it’s going to be epic! This international tournament will take place at the Richmond Olympic Oval, Richmond Ice Centre and Minoru Arena, with approximately 100 teams representing 10 countries, including Australia, Finland, Switzerland, Italy, Kazakhstan, the United States, Ukraine and Canada.

The tournament has a mix of recreational and competitive amateur players, making for some exciting and highly competitive games. And with a chance to be crowned world champion on the line, you can bet that the action on the ice will be intense.

But it’s not all about the hockey at the Molson CARHA Hockey World Cup. The Richmond Olympic Oval hosts a family-friendly March of Athletes on Sunday, March 19, at 5:00 pm. Beginning from the Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel and Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel and leading all the way to the Richmond Olympic Oval, hockey fans and families are encouraged to line the streets and welcome these athletes to the community. Richmond residents are invited to help welcome and cheer on more than 1,500 athletes as they march to the Oval wearing their country jerseys for the Opening Ceremonies.

You may be asking yourself: how do I get in on all this exciting hockey? You’re in luck! The week-long tournament is free to attend and watch all the action go down. Games begin Monday, March 20 to Saturday, March 25, taking place at either the Oval or Richmond Ice Centre, with the Feature Game taking place at Minoru Arena on Friday, March 24, at 7:00 pm. The feature game is televised and has all the bells and whistles of a professional hockey game, including an official puck drop, anthems, intermissions and more.
